SBA has a vision to help grow basketball in 2023
As 2023 begins, we would like to take the opportunity, on behalf of Scarborough Basketball staff and board members, to wish you a belated Happy New Year!
It has been great to finally get back to a “more familiar” year of basketball in 2022. Whether you have been playing in the driveway, on your school team, in house league, with a club team or competing in regional and international games, I think we were all excited to be part of this “explosion of basketball” in 2022!
The great performances of our club teams over the past year are the result of all the new and ongoing efforts SBA has been undertaking in our training and programming with training camps, talent identification, coach development and the alignment of performance pathways at all levels. Notable results from 2022 include a Provincial gold medal for our U14 Boys team with Coach Hanif.
Our successful fundraising continues to be a key financial objective in support of our recently launched elementary school engagement basketball programs for girls and boys in Scarborough’s high-priority areas. Just as SBA has a clear vision and strategy to support our performance athletes’ efforts to reach the national level, we continue to focus on the developing excitement for all our programs from Small Ball Learn to Play all the way to our OSBA (Ontario Scholastic Basketball League).
We would like to thank staff members and volunteers at Scarborough Basketball for their continued hard work. We would also like to thank all our parents and players and our partner organizations for understanding the importance of supporting basketball in our community.
Lastly, please remember that #wearescarboroughbasketball. With that in mind, we would like to offer our thanks and congratulations to everyone involved with basketball in our community for all of your collective efforts, support and contributions that helped grow our sport across the Greater Toronto Area!
Thank you and best wishes for 2023!
Sam Moncada
